Overview
Two nights in Athens is enough for the Acropolis, the Agora and the archaeological museum at an unhurried pace, and the Plaka district below the hill is where the evenings happen. Santorini then does something entirely different — the island is the rim of a collapsed volcano, and the villages sit along the cliff edge looking down into the water that filled it. Four nights there allows for the caldera villages, a boat trip, the black-sand beaches on the far coast, and at least one day doing nothing. The ferry or short domestic flight between them is quoted according to season and preference.
Highlights
- Classical Athens: the Acropolis and Parthenon
- Four nights on cliff-top Santorini
- Sunsets over the caldera at Oia
- Boat trip to volcanic islets and hot springs
- Black-sand beaches and island wineries
- Ferry or short flight between Athens and Santorini
Cities & Places
Athens (Acropolis, Plaka), Santorini (Fira, Oia, Caldera)
Ideal For
Accommodation
Centrally located hotel in Athens near Plaka or Syntagma, and in Santorini either a caldera-view property in Fira, Imerovigli or Oia, or a quieter hotel away from the rim. Caldera-view rooms carry a significant premium and involve steps — the two decisions are linked and worth making deliberately. Properties are confirmed at quotation stage, subject to verification and availability.

Important Notes
Schengen entry requirements vary by nationality and require lead time, documentation and an appointment; approval is never guaranteed by any agency — raise nationality at enquiry stage. Santorini's cliff villages are built on steep terrain with many steps and no vehicle access in places; this affects hotel choice and is not suitable for everyone. Ferry schedules are seasonal and can be affected by weather; the crossing is confirmed close to travel. July and August are extremely busy and hot, and cruise-ship days make Oia crowded at sunset — late spring and September are materially better.
