Classic Italy Journey

Classic Italy Journey

Overview

The three-city Italian route is a cliché because it works. What separates a good version from a bad one is time: three nights in Rome, three in Florence and two in Venice, with high-speed rail between them, means each city gets at least one unscheduled day. Rome needs the most structure — the ancient centre and the Vatican are both guided — while Florence rewards walking and Venice rewards getting lost. A day into Tuscany from Florence adds the countryside that the cities alone do not show. Nine days is the honest minimum; the same route sold in six is why so many travellers come back from Italy exhausted.

Highlights

  • Three-city route linked by high-speed rail

  • Florence on foot around the Duomo

Accommodation

Centrally located hotels in all three cities, within walking distance of the historic centres. Venice hotels reached by water transfer involve a short walk with luggage over bridges, which is unavoidable in the old city and worth knowing in advance. Premium options are available throughout. Properties are confirmed at quotation stage, subject to verification and availability.

Flight Status: quotable_by_departure_city — International flights can be quoted according to the traveller’s departure city. Open-jaw routing (arriving Rome, departing Venice) is normally recommended. High-speed rail between cities is quoted as part of the package.

Important Notes

Schengen entry requirements vary by nationality and require lead time, documentation and an appointment; approval is never guaranteed by any agency — raise nationality at enquiry stage. Major sites including the Vatican Museums and the Colosseum operate timed entry and sell out well ahead in peak season; these are arranged in advance where included. Italy is very busy and hot in July and August, and spring and autumn are materially better for this route. Venice involves bridges and steps throughout with limited step-free routing, and church visits require modest dress with shoulders and knees covered.
