Overview
Oman is the Gulf country that has changed least, and that is precisely its appeal. Muscat is low-rise and white, built along the coast rather than upward, with a working souk at Mutrah and a grand mosque worth an unhurried visit. Inland, Nizwa’s fort and its livestock market give a clear sense of the interior’s older order, and the road up to Jebel Akhdar climbs into terraced villages and cool mountain air that surprise most first- time visitors. This journey moves at an unhurried pace with a wadi day built in. It suits travellers who want landscape and character rather than nightlife or shopping.

Important Notes
Oman is very hot from May to September and the interior more so than the coast; October to April is materially more comfortable for this route and we will recommend accordingly. Wadi walking involves uneven rock and shallow water crossings, and swimming is at your own discretion — tell us if anyone in the party would prefer to skip it. Nizwa’s livestock market operates on a specific day of the week and cannot be seen at other times; the itinerary is arranged around it where possible. Mosque visits require modest dress and have restricted visiting hours. Entry requirements differ by nationality and are verified before confirmation.
